The manufacturer XGIMI It has been demonstrating for several years that it is possible to offer a quality projector without reaching excessively high prices. It is obvious that the physical limitations in this type of device still exist, and that is why it is not possible to do magic when it comes to offering the highest image quality, wanting to have a compact body and having the lowest possible price. But we are getting closer.
XGIMI Horizon Ultra
The arrival of horizon ultra it's not by chance. XGIMI has been working at a spectacular pace for several years to launch increasingly complete products. The Horizon Pro is one of their great flagships, with re4K resolution and qualities that make it one of the best home cinema projectors on the market. But time for everyone, and for the Horizon Pro too. And this is where the new Horizon Ultra comes into action.
with the stamps 4K and Dolby Vision You can imagine that we are facing a very special model. The secret is in a technology of double projection based on laser and LCD which achieves a much higher level of brightness and very striking colors. And this projection power is seen in a very attractive way thanks to a motorized visor that automatically lowers when the equipment is turned on, in order to protect the lens at all times when the projector is off.
Automatic and magical configuration
The best thing about the projector is that with the help of its front camera and sensors it is capable of adjust projection area automatically, going so far as to identify the projection screen and adjusting the limits of the image to the edges of the screen with insulting precision. The process can be adjusted manually, but the automatic mode is so effective that you will rarely have to modify it.
To achieve the perfect fit, calibrate parameters such as the new optical zoom, dynamic color adjustment, dynamic iris, keystone adjustment and screen focus. And the result is simply perfect.
Horizon Ultra vs Horizon Pro
And after listing and reviewing all the new features that this new projector includes, the big question you might ask yourself is, are these changes really noticeable? Well, to clear up any doubts, we have pitted both models against each other to check which projector offers better image quality, and the answer is quite obvious.
The new Horizon Ultra shows that it is capable of achieving much brighter, projecting very striking images and with very real colors that do not feel saturated. Comparing both screens at the same time is when we can truly understand the advances in image quality. The jump from 1600 ISO to 2300 ISO is noticeably noticeable.
There are tones that the Horizon Pro shows in a flatter and less intense way, and that, until now, given the quality and definition it offered, were camouflaged quite well. The problem is when you turn on the Horizon Ultra and compare that same scene, you immediately notice that something has changed.
Basically the image has more light, and the color adjustment manages to obtain more natural tones that are closer to what the image should show. The images shown have been captured by photographing with the same values manually, in order to see the difference in lighting between one projector and another. In the case of the Horizon Pro, the image looked darker and with less information, while the Horizon Ultra enhances the highlights and returns a much more vivid image in general.
An all-in-one with Android TV that could improve
The all-in-one solution that the manufacturer proposes again is magnificent, since we have Android TV as a smart platform from which to install applications, access services and select external sources. But it is not perfect, since navigation is still sometimes slow, and you do not know if it is a problem with the internal processor or with the communication between the remote control and the projector.
Something to keep in mind is that we will not be able to install Netflix, since XGIMI still does not include the license on its equipment, so you have to use not very reliable solutions that do not match the original experience, or directly go to other services.
Worth?
We are looking at a spectacular projector that will offer you amazing movie sessions. Furthermore, its system Harman Kardon integrated sound It offers enough power not to use an external system, although with such image quality, you will most likely also want to enjoy good surround sound.
With a price of 1.899 Euros, the device manages to stay below 2.000 euros, an amount that seems very appropriate to us taking into account its potential and image quality.
