Huawei In recent years, it has managed to make each headphone launch synonymous with expectation and there is no doubt that the firm's true wireless headphones have become a benchmark in the market thanks to a fantastic (and balanced) combination of technology, autonomy and, of course, price. With the new FreeBuds 6, the Asian house only reinforces this trend, with some in-ear that come to satisfy those who seek sound quality with functions premium And at an attractive price. After a long time testing them, today we're going to tell you what we think and if they're worth it.

Design and ergonomics

The Huawei FreeBuds 6 stand out for a very special design which represents a clear evolution of the aesthetic line of the FreeBuds 5. The open-fit (or semi-open) format is still present, thus offering a good fit in the ear and without offering the total isolation of traditional in-ear headphones. This design, although I consider it not for everyone, is especially suitable for those who wear headphones, for example, for many hours a day and do not tolerate the pads deep or those who still want to use their in-ear at all times without feeling the isolation that comes with headphones always when you have them on.

The FreeBuds 6 box is quite recognizable for being shaped like a vertical "egg", being easy to open with one hand and with thoughtful details like the hinge and strong magnetism to prevent accidental openings. The overall finish is plastic, but it doesn't feel "cheap" in the least, and instead contributes to an incredible lightness, only 4,9 grams per earphone and around 40-50 grams for the set with case.

Huawei also incorporates some silicone cases in the box to improve the fit on different types of ears and further enhance isolation. You have to get the hang of fitting them, but once you do, I don't dislike it the in-ear experience, as they contribute to an extra feeling of grip and security that they won't fall out - so common with this type of design.

As I always say, the suitability of these headphones will depend greatly on the anatomy of each user, but I think the silicone accessory helps, at least in relatively short-term uses - if you spend a lot of time with them it can be something more uncomfortable silicone.

Overall, the ergonomics are good and There are even times when I have forgotten that I was wearing them., which is something that says a lot in its favor.

User experience and sound quality

Interaction with the FreeBuds 6 is done thanks to touch controls in the neck area, allowing for all sorts of very convenient gestures: double-tap to pause or resume playback, triple-tap to change tracks, swipe to increase and decrease the volume, and long presses to activate or deactivate noise-cancelling mode or summon virtual assistants. It also has head control (only for accepting or rejecting calls), although I'm not as comfortable with this feature and didn't have it activated during my tests.

All of this can be customized through the Huawei AI Life appThis app is very visual, making it easy to manage the equalizer, battery levels, cancellation modes, and features like locating your headset if you lose it nearby.

Another strong point is the multipoint connectivity: The headphones can stay linked to two devices at once, making it easy to jump between your phone and computer, for example, without the need for re-pairing, a feature I increasingly demand and value in headphones.

Where Huawei has made a notable leap is in the sound section. The FreeBuds 6 incorporate for the first time in the brand a dual driver system: one 11 mm for deep bass and another, also 11 mm, for treble, covering a frequency range of 14 Hz to 48 kHz. This translates into deep bass and clear treble., with a strong media presence. There's little to complain about in that regard.

Support for high definition codecs is complete, ensuring maximum fidelity If you have a compatible device and high-quality files or streaming. As mentioned earlier, Huawei also includes several preset modes from the equalizer: default, bass boost, treble focus, voices, and spatial experiences (Hi-Fi Live, Symphony), so you can find the profile that best suits your preferences.

With regards to active noise cancellation (ANC), you may have doubts about its design. It's true that total cancellation can only be achieved with a much more complete seal around the ear (not even the best in-ear headphones achieve this 100%), but I must say that the FreeBuds 6, despite their format open-fit, includes a fairly good noise reduction, managing to isolate ambient noise surprisingly well.

At the time of doing calls, they also offer a pretty good performance, relying on a new VPU bone conduction microphone and an independent cavity, which work together to capture the voice with great precision and help make conversation much more comfortable.

Autonomy and charging

The battery is one of the strong points in the FreeBuds 6 range. Each earphone incorporates 39,5 mAh in the open-fit model while the case raises the capacity to 510 mAhThis, in real-world terms, translates to about 5 hours without ANC and around four hours with active cancellation enabled. The case provides up to 36 hours (without ANC).

Fast charging is standard: It takes about 30-40 minutes to fully charge the headphones., and with just 10 minutes of connection you get up to 4 hours of playback, ideal for emergencies. The case charges via USB-C, and includes wireless charging compatible.

Are they worth the price?

Huawei has bet heavily on the FreeBuds 6 in terms of launch price. headphones have an official price of 159 euros, a price I consider quite reasonable for the quality they offer in terms of sound, noise cancellation, battery life, and user experience. They come in three colors: white, black, and purple.

These headphones are ideal for those who want enjoy music in high definition and take advantage of noise cancellation both on the street and in work or study environments. Its open-fit design will also appeal to those who value comfort and don't want to feel completely isolated from their surroundings.
