One of the great advantages of smart speakers is, as its name suggests, that they are devices that go beyond the traditional use that involves solely and exclusively playing content on it.

How to make calls through HomePod
The process for making a phone call through the HomePod is so simple that you only need to do the following, although you should know that you must be an iPhone user to take advantage of the integration between both Apple devices:
- Being at a distance from which the voice commands are understandable by the speaker say "Hey Siri, make a phone call"
- Normally, Siri will respond to said interaction with the question "Who do you want to call?" Say the name of your contact and the call will start
This method is not the only one, as you can imagine, and you also have the possibility of indicating directly who you want to call. That is, you can skip some steps just by saying from the beginning "Hey Siri, call mom" or whoever you want to do as long as it is the name you have registered in your iPhone's contact book.
Once you want to end the call, you can say "Hey Siri, hang up" again, and Apple's voice assistant, integrated into its devices and the HomePod in particular, will hang up.
Of course, there's more. You can also give HomePod and Siri the command to call a phone number that's not in your contacts . This simply involves changing what you ask and adding the corresponding number.
If, on the contrary, what you want is to call the same number again, say "Hey Siri, call again or redial the last number". And whoever says to call also says to answer.
Thanks to Handoff, if you are a user of various Apple devices, you will have noticed that when they contact you, that call not only jumps on the iPhone, but also on any possible iPad you have, Mac and the brand's own speakers.
If you want to answer a call from your HomePod, just say, "Hey Siri, answer the phone." That's it! Now you'll be talking directly to the person who contacted you through the speaker in hands-free mode with very high audio quality. Because if there's one thing these Apple devices are known for, it's the quality of their built-in microphones and how well they separate your voice from other sounds.
Extra bonus: transfer a call from the iPhone to the HomePod
Finally, when you receive a call on your iPhone, you don't have to continue the call from it the entire time. You can activate speakerphone, connect headphones, or even transfer the call to your HomePod.
The latter with the HomePod is as simple as bringing your phone close to it, at the top, and waiting for the change to be made automatically.
