The true wireless earbud market has exploded in recent years. Most manufacturers offer one or more models in their catalog to meet user demand. Recently, with the launch of its latest smartphone, realme also introduced new wireless earbuds offering excellent value for money. Today, I'll share my experience after testing the realme Buds Air 2.

Design: common and striking at the same time
The first thing I want to talk to you about regarding these wireless headphones is the design , which, of course, is the first thing that catches our eye and a detail we look at before buying them.
At first glance, the box of these headphones will sound a lot like that of other manufacturers. Especially to that of the well-known Apple Airpods. Although, it is true that this is somewhat more rounded, which makes it a bit more comfortable to carry it in your pocket.
Furthermore, this case includes a USB-C charging connector at the bottom, a button on its right side to activate synchronization, and an LED on the front that indicates its status and the battery level of this carrying case.
Upon opening the case and removing the earbuds, we are once again faced with something familiar. Their design is that of the usual stem , which houses the earpiece that we insert into the ear canal, and attached to this, the silicone ear tip that ensures a proper fit.
However, there is something that really stands out. These True Wireless earbuds are available in two colors : black and white. It's not very noticeable on the black model, but on the white one, the finish of the earbud stem is different. In this case, the stem is silver, while the earbud and ear tip are white. This makes it immediately eye-catching because it's not a typical design for this type of device.
You may or may not like this design. Personally, I don't dislike them, although, to be honest, I'd prefer the black model . If you like your headphones to have a striking design, this could be a good choice in the true wireless market.
Experience of ten
Moving on to what I think of everything these headphones offer, I can tell you right now that they may be the best I've tried so far, considering their price: 49,99 euros.

The sound quality is quite good , with powerful bass and very clear audio. Of course, they're not the best on the market, but they certainly do their job very well considering they're a relatively inexpensive product. Furthermore, their low latency enhances the experience . This means that when using them while watching a show or playing games on your phone, there's no annoying "lag" that plagues the sound of many other headphones. And if you activate game mode through the Realme Link app , this latency becomes virtually nonexistent.
They feature active noise cancellation , a welcome addition not found in all budget headphones. I really liked how this noise suppression works and I think it's very effective. They also have a transparent mode , which allows a certain amount of sound to pass through so you can have a natural conversation without removing the headphones. This mode can be activated by tapping the earbud stem , switching between active noise cancellation, transparent mode, and normal mode.
Speaking of these touch gestures and returning to the topic of the control app , here we can make some interesting adjustments. Once we sync the Buds Air 2 to it, we'll be able to select different sections:
- Noise control: which is nothing more than toggling between noise suppression, transparency and general mode.
- game modeo: with this asset we will reduce the latency of the hearing aids to a minimum.
- Sound effects: These are 3 different equalization modes that, depending on our tastes, we can boost the bass, leave it as it comes from the factory or activate the pure mode for the best sound quality.
- Automatic modes: on the one hand we will have the possibility of activating the in-ear detection, that is, that the headphones detect when we put them on or take them off. This will activate or pause what we are listening to. And, on the other hand, the way «Auto answer», more of the same as the previous one but with the calls.
- Gestures: As I have already told you, through touches we can configure different sections. From this application we can configure each option to our tastes and needs.
Having said all this, I want to talk to you about two details before going on to tell you about my conclusion after having tried these new True Wireless from realme.
Something I haven't mentioned yet is that these headphones have IPX5 protection . Therefore, we can use them without fear of sweat or rain, as they will be well protected.
One aspect that has impressed me greatly is their battery life . The manufacturer promises a total of 25 hours of use on a single charge , including the charging case. Individually, they offer 5 hours of continuous use.
I couldn't tell you if they reach those 25 hours in total because I haven't timed it, really. But in all this time that I have been using them, I estimate that about 2 weeks in sessions of 1 to 2 hours, I have not charged them even once (except for the first day, when I took them to 100%). The best thing is that both hearing aids still have a full charge and a 10% autonomy in the box. This is a pass, without more.
Easy to recommend headphones
At this point, you can probably imagine how difficult it is for me not to recommend these Realme True Wireless earbuds. The design might not be entirely to my taste, at least not in the white model. But otherwise, I can't ask for more for less.
The sound they reproduce is very good, the sound is clear, the noise cancellation works very well and the theme of gestures seems very useful to me. Although it is true that I would have appreciated the possibility of actually a "simple gesture" instead of starting with a double tap.
Therefore, if you want True Wireless headphones and you don't want to spend too much money, for 50 euros these realme Buds Air 2 should be among those options to consider for sure.
