Whether you're a highly active Facebook user or someone who barely uses the social network, you probably have a few photos (and videos) uploaded to your profile that you'd like to keep safe and secure. If that's the case, and you don't want to download the images from your albums one by one, there's a way to transfer everything in your Facebook gallery to Google Photos. And we're going to explain how.
Facebook, the social network par excellence
Despite the fact that Facebook has lost steam in recent times, it continues to be the reference social network for many. The great network of Mark Zuberger was established at the time as a place for meetings and contacts around the entire planet and it is rare who today does not have an account on said platform -or, at least, has had one.
Between its problems with the way privacy is handled and the arrival of other social networks, as we said, the pace has slowed down considerably, but even if you no longer log in as frequently as before and prefer to browse Instagram or TikTok, your profile surely holds a good collection of photos that you would like to keep (and not lose in case you decide to unsubscribe at some point).
To that end, the company has created a new tool that allows Facebook users to transfer their photos and videos directly to other storage services, starting with Google Photos. More options will be available in the future , but initially, the platform has chosen to offer only one transfer method and expand with other alternatives later.
How to Transfer Facebook Photos and Videos to Google Photos
The steps to follow to transfer all your photos and videos from one place to another are very simple and only require a few clicks. Aim.
Via PC (with web browser version):
- Go to your Facebook profile and once inside, tap on the arrow in the upper right corner.
- In the dropdown, choose “Settings”.
- In the left column, select «Your Facebook information«.
- You will see that the second option that appears is “Transfer a copy of your photos or videos”. Click.
- You will have to enter your Facebook password again.
- You will see a blue button with a dropdown that shows “Google Photos«. Select it.
- Choose what you want to transfer (Photos or Videos -you'll have to do one first and then the other-) and click on "the blue button "Next".
- You will have to enter Google with your credentials.
- A message will appear asking for permission for Facebook. Click on "Allow".
- A new message confirming the permission process will be displayed on the screen. Click "Allow" again.
- You will return to the screen of point 6. Now you only have to click on "Confirm transfer" to start the process.
Once the transfer is complete, you will see a notification on Facebook and receive an email alert.
Through the Facebook mobile app (Android and iOS):
- Enter the Facebook app and tap on the three lines in the lower right corner.
- Search for “Settings” (swipe the screen down) and access.
- Scroll down until you see the section Your Facebook information. Within it, one of the options is “Transfer a copy of your photos or videos«. Tap on it.
- You will have to re-enter your password. Tap on “Continue”.
- In the “Choose destination” dropdown, select Google Photos.
- Choose what you want to transfer in the following dropdown that will appear: your photos or your videos (you will have to do one first and then the other). Tap on the blue “Next” button.
- You will have to enter your Google data.
- You will have to give Facebook permission to access the Google Photos library. Tap on "Let" -You might get a second confirmation message; if so, tap on “Allow” again.
- You will return to the screen of point 5. Now you only have to click on "Confirm transfer" to start the process.
Just as it happens through the desktop, you will receive a notification on Facebook and another by email when the transfer is complete.
