La Artificial Intelligence would be nothing without continuous training with new information and Meta, owner of Instagram, well he knows it. Therefore, for some time this platform, together with Facebook, has been using your publications to "feed" their AI, something for which they have not expressly asked your permission at any time. Of course, there is a way to avoid it and there is a way (somewhat far-fetched but existing) to oppose that Meta use your posts. We explain how.
The right to object to the use of your information for Meta AI
As we told you, Meta has been using your publications for some time to train his artificial intelligence. It thrives on information, so the more it has, the smarter it will be. The company founded by Mark Zuckerberg has a section in which he explains his Privacy Policy and it indicates precisely that this use is being made, however, these are details that are not so easy or intuitive to access, which is why a large majority of users are unaware that this is the case.
If you have just found out and do not want your publications to be used for this purpose, you can always object by following the followed that the user @soyjorgetoro indicates in his post:
- Enter the Instagram app.
- In your profile, go to your account settings by tapping the three lines in the upper right corner.
- Look for the "Information" option (at the bottom) and everything about it.
- Search for “Privacy Policy” and access it.
- A page will open with a box in which there is a link to "right to object." Tap on it.
- A new page will load with a simple form in which you will only have to select your country, indicate your email address and comment "how the processing of your data affects you" - come on, the reason why you want to object.
- Tap the blue send button.
As indicated, the request will be reviewed and if they accept it - they shouldn't have to - you will receive an email in which Meta confirms that they will stop using your data and publications to train their AI.
What data are they using exactly?
On the right to object page itself it is indicated that “among the information” you share are:
- The images/videos of the publications themselves
- Photos and their captions
- The messages you send to the AI
Meta also clarifies that They do not use the content of your private messages with friends and family to train their AIs, so privacy in this sense is still guaranteed.
It seems incredible that we are not informed much more openly and clearly about this and, above all, as our source indicates, that we have to search so hard to find your right to object to this practice. At least, yes, we have an option to avoid it if we wish.
