Not many years ago, Instagram was another social network in which hundreds of thousands of users uploaded photos of their day to day. It was used as a complement to Twitter or even as a personal blog, but with images. However, little by little, the new generations stopped approaching Facebook and began to use Instagram for new purposes. To this day, Instagram bears very little resemblance to the network it was 10 years ago or even less. The community has evolved, and has become a multidisciplinary network where there is entrepreneurs, companies and even people who live off their personal brand. Sometimes many users are forced to transform su personal profile on a public or professional profile. This means that it will touch hide or eliminate part of our past we don't want it to remain public. In this post we will explain how you can hide some posts from your past from your Instagram profile without necessarily having to delete said content.
Transforming an Instagram account is very common
You are not and will not be the first to start an Instagram account when I was at school, and now, after many years, knowledge and experiences, you have been forced to turn your instagram account into a professional profile. Setting up a business or a personal brand is not something that is done overnight. In most cases, one turns to a business when they already have some experience, or at least, already have some certainty that it will go well. That is why it is not unreasonable that you personal account ends up transformed into something serious, qualified and Experience. Or even become one of the main assets of your company.
If this is your case, it will touch you hide a bunch of publications to transform your profile. For many, making the switch will be as simple as deleting photos left and right. But luckily, Instagram gives us the possibility to hide the content that we do not want to remain public. In this way, only we will be able to consult our past in this social network. And this is what we are going to explain in detail below
How to hide your posts without deleting them
If you want to give a cleaning your Instagram account, but you do not want to lose the memories of your profile, whether they are photos, tags, comments and others, Instagram has allowed you for quite some time now hide these photos and videos without that you are forced to delete posts. The steps you have to do are the following:
- Open the instagram app on your mobile. It doesn't matter if you use an iPhone or an Android device.
- Go to the icon of your image of profile, which is located in the lower right corner of the application interface.
- There you will see the data of your profile and your most recent publications, accompanied by the line of featured stories that you show to your audience.
- Navigate until you find the post you want to hide to your followers. Go inside that post.
- Now, three vertical dots will appear in the upper right corner. If we click, we will get a contextual menu with several options that we can apply to the image, real the video.
- Within this menu click "archive". The post will automatically disappear from your public feed.
- You can perform the same process with your featured stories. If you are no longer interested in showing the public a specific story, enter one of those publications, go to the context menu using the menu in the corner and again, click on archive.
How to view your archived content on Instagram
Carrying out the previous process, we have obtained hide some of our personal posts (and even old photos that already make us a little embarrassed). to see the new feed private of our Instagram account, we will have to go to archive, which is where all the publications that we have hidden from our followers are stored. - go back to your profile from Instagram by clicking on the thumbnail of your avatar in the lower right corner of the app.
- Locate the hamburger menu, which is located in the upper right corner of the interface. will open a new drop down and you will have to click on the second option, which is called "File".
- At the top of the interface, you will be able to choose between viewing the stories archive, the posts archive, and the Live Videos archive. You will have to select the option you prefer. Once marked, you will be able to see three tabs different.
- In the first of all we can see the posts we have archived. If they are few, it will be easy to find them, so you won't need to use the other two.
- However, if your account is very large, it will be interesting to use the two remaining tabs. In the central tab you will be able to find the publication using the original date you submitted the content to Instagram. This will be very useful if, for example, you manage a successful brand on said social network. The last tab has a miniature Map, and it will allow you to find your photos, stories and videos based on theto location where you made those postss. Most users won't find this feature especially useful, but if you travel a lot around the world, this is probably the tab that you use the most out of the three.
How to retrieve archived posts
Lastly, you canrecover any publication that you regret archiving, or that you want to make visible again for whatever reason. The steps you have to do are the following:
- Go back to the Instagram archive, following the steps that we have written in the previous section.
- Go to the flange of publications, direct or stories depending on the content you want to recover in your feed.
- Go inside the publication, click on the hamburger menu and check the option “show on profile”.
- Immediately afterwards, your publication will be public again, and it will recover its original position within your profile. You just have to be careful if you have one of those feeds super ordered that make large images through small publications, since it will not be so easy to carry out this process without unbalancing all the previous work.
How to download your archived photos
Sometimes you may not feel comfortable knowing that there is private information stored in your profile that could affect your brand in the event of a leak. If this is the case, you will have to archive and then delete the content. Not without first downloading the photos and videos so as not to lose them.
This process can be done in several different ways, but you will do it more comfortably with your mobile:
- On iOS: If you have an iPhone, download the Instant Save app from the App Store. Then follow the steps to download your images and posts.
- On Android: you must download Instg Download and follow the instructions to download your publications to your mobile.
The big problem here is that by default, you won't be able to download archived posts. You will have to restore them momentarily so that they are public and the app can act on them. You can do the process at an ungodly hour so that no one has time to see the process.
