TikTok continues to be one of the fastest growing social networks in number of users today. To make it easier to follow each other, TikTok has come up with a new, easier way to follow other creators: the tikcode. Today we tell you what they are, how they work and we explain how to create your own TikCode.
What is a TikCode?
For everyone to understand in a simple way, the TikCode are nothing more than business cards that we can scan to access and follow other users on TikTok. Ultimately, it is a barcode or QR code in which certain information of a profile is stored.
Really, the TikCode it's not something new of this social network. Using this type of code is something that is already in use on other social networks such as Instagram or Snapchat. They are elements that facilitate the interaction between the users of a social network and, in addition, it is a simple way of attract many others from other social networks. We just have to share this TikCode in an Instagram post, for example, and encourage people who follow us on that social network to also do so on TikTok.
What are the TikCodes for?
It could be said that, if you are an active person in several social networks, using these TikCode will give you a series of and advantages regarding other users such as:
- The clearest is that, by using it, no one will make a mistake when adding you to this social network. It might seem silly but it has not happened to you that you give your TikTok username to someone else so that they can add you later and, finally, they never did it because he wrote it wrong. How to create and use your TikCode
Now that you know everything important about this new TikTok feature, we are sure that you will want to create your own. This process will not take you more than 1 minute:
- Enter your TikTok account and access your profile by clicking on the "Me" icon in the bottom bar.
- Once here, click on the icon of the three points that you can see in the upper right part of the screen to access the configuration.
- Within this menu you will have to access the “TikCode” section. Your own code will automatically be created that you can show to other people so they can follow you as easily as possible.
How to scan another user's TikCode
Once you have this TikCode, at the bottom of the screen you will see two different options:
- Save to device: clicking on this section will download an image with your code as a photograph to your gallery. This is the one that, as we mentioned before, you can post on other social networks so that other users start following you and your number of followers increases rapidly.
- Scan: simple and fast. Clicking on this option will open a new screen with access to your phone's camera. From here you will be able to scan the codes of other creators. Doing so will directly open their profile so you can start following them.
On the other hand, if you want to facilitate the use of your TikCode, we recommend that you save it in your gallery in a folder that is easily accessible. This will save you digging through the TikTok settings every time you want to use it.
Customize your TikCode
As you can imagine, these types of codes are customizable by us to a certain extent. For example, we could change the profile picture if we don't like it or the username itself if we want it. If you have no idea how these processes are done, don't worry, we will explain it to you below.
To change profile nickname that you see next to the TikCode is as simple as following these steps:
- Enter your profile by pressing the "Me" icon in the bottom bar of the TikTok app.
- Click now on "Edit profile" to access all the settings of your account.
- Here, if you want to change the name that appears next to your TikCode, you will have to enter "Username" and modify it.
Remember that when you change the username you are changing the nick that goes next to the at sign of your profile. This means that anyone could use your old name while you're not using it and you can "never" get it back.
On the other hand, in case you want change the photograph which is in the center of your "business card" in this social network, the process is tremendously similar.
- Click on the user icon with the "I" to enter your wall.
- Here click on “Edit profile”.
- Now click on the icon of the camera that you see on your photo. Here you will have to choose if you want to take a photo at that moment, or import it from the reel.
Once you click on the save icon you will have changed the photograph that will be displayed in this code. Now you just have to go, again, to your wall and click on the icon of the three points in the upper right corner. In this menu, access the “QR Code” option to once again create the TikCode with the relevant modifications you have made.
Done, now you have a personalized TikCode that shows an image other than your profile photo and, even so, anyone who scans it will access your account without problems.
