With the arrival of Fortnite Season 6 , players were introduced to new characters that hadn't appeared in the game before: animals. Scattered across different areas of the map, we'll find various species that can attack us and reduce our health bar; however, if we take the necessary steps, we can tame them to help us.
What animals are in Fortnite?
For now, the animals we'll find scattered across the island will be wolves, wild boars , and chickens, with the wolves being the most aggressive and dangerous. The good news is that there will be ways to calm them down, even to the point of taming them and making them our companions. If you get them on your side, they'll be able to attack any rivals you see.

When you face an animal you will have two options (or three if you decide to run away). On the one hand, you will be able to attack them with the weapons you have at that moment and eliminate them, in order to obtain food and bones with which to improve the primitive weapons. But, on the other hand, you can tame them so that they become allies and accompany you in the game.

How to tame a wolf in Fortnite
The first of the animals is the wolf. It is the most dangerous in the game, as it will usually attack in a pack and will try to bite you continuously. The attack rhythm is paused and in turns, so you can defend yourself if you need to. To tame a wolf, the first thing you'll have to do is feed it, and for this you'll have to throw one of the meat thighs that you get when you kill a wild boar or another wolf.
As soon as the wolf begins to eat what you have thrown at it, you can approach it and press the tame button that will appear on the screen. After doing so, the wolf will become your faithful companion and will continue as long as you are alive (or until it is killed).
How to tame a boar in Fortnite
In the case of the wild boars, we will have to do practically the same thing, however, instead of throwing meat at it, we will have to use fruits and vegetables. To find this food we will only have to search among the green baskets that you will find in many areas of the map, or directly take ears of corn from the Colossal Crops plantation.
Once you have some kind of plant food, throw it to the boars to start eating, and all you have to do is walk up and press the tame button to make them companions.
How can I tame a velociraptor?
If you are thinking of finishing the game in cooperative mode with what is currently the most dangerous animal on the island, the best plan is to get the services of a velociraptor. To get the animal to follow your path and not attack you, you must do the following:
With the hunter's cloak
- The easiest way to tame one of these critters is to get the hunter's cape so that the animal does not attack you at any time.
- You should keep in mind that when the velociraptor is already attacking another user, it could also attack you whether or not you are wearing the cape, so you better find one that is grazing quietly.
- Approach slowly and press the tame button when it appears on the screen.

- The other option is to feed him, and for this you will have to bring him meat. Get meat by killing a wolf, a boar or a chicken.
- When you throw the meat nearby, get closer and press the tame button when it appears on the screen.
Can chickens be tamed?
The chickens that you will see scattered around the map cannot be tamed, however, they do have a rather peculiar function, since they will allow you to glide from the heights as if you had deployed the paraglider and thus avoid damage from falling. To achieve this, all you have to do is grab one of these chickens and jump from the heights, although the problem will be precisely catching them, since they will run continuously when you chase them.
Are there more secret animals?
For now, these are the three animals available in the game (there are also frogs, but they can't be tamed). However, there are rumors that some kind of dinosaur will appear soon. According to some leaks, velociraptors could appear on the island, which would make a lot of sense if we take a look at the area called Stealth Hold , which resembles a fortress similar to the one in Jurassic Park.
