The FIFA franchise will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2023. A tradition that lasts more than two decades
FIFA has achieved something that seemed impossible for a video game: that simply by listening to a musical theme we move mentally in time, until that moment when we turned on our PlayStation (the first one) to play some games with friends who had come over (online multiplayer was still in its infancy). If Electronic Arts wanted to take advantage of a song's success, it had to checkout at prices pre-crash MP3, although over the years that relationship was reversed and from its explosion during the past decade of the franchise, thanks to the improvement of the gameplay experience, the multiplayer and eSports phenomenon and, above all, FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT ), many companies rushed to place their most promising artists, and some established ones who needed a push, to be part of each one of the FIFA that have been arriving on the market punctually in autumn.
How many songs fit in a FIFA?
As we tell you, evolution has been progressive and while in the first FIFA 98 we only reached 9 musical themes, just ten years later for FIFA 08 coins Electronic Arts already had a total of 22 included. Growth since then has been progressive and, at times, exponential, and proof of this are the figures that are handled with the latest deliveries. So for example with FIFA 18 coins the game radio added a total of 46 different songs by leading artists and groups while in FIFA 22 coins with Volta and all, and Mbappé on the cover already completely unleashed (worldwide), that amount has shot up to 122.
FIFA 19, for example, reduced (compared to FIFA 18 coins) quantity on 41 subjects; FIFA 20 coins increased them again to 51 and FIFA 21 coins, the one that hit stores in the fall of 2020, stayed at 52. Thus, Electronic Arts' decision to make such a brutal jump in the number of songs with FIFA 22 coins marks the path of a video game franchise that, as we tell you, It has ceased to be a simple football game to transcend in the cultural field. After ending the licensing agreement with FIFA, EA Sports decided to go out on its own with its sports simulator without the famous name that has accompanied it for two decades.
