Play again as before with the best video game remakes

DeadSpace.

In recent years, we've seen a clear trend in the world of video games. Developers have tapped into nostalgia to bring back numerous classic games, offering them with a completely rejuvenated aesthetic adapted to modern times. These are the so-called remakes , very interesting projects that revive old glories and manage to climb back to the top of the sales charts.

Begin the Beguine

With this list, we are going to enumerate a series of new versions of video games that have managed to capture the attention of players of all kinds, since while many have enjoyed playing again, others have discovered for the first time true jewels that could not be let pass.

Differences between remastering and remake

As its name suggests, a remake is a reworked version. That is, the developers have based their work on the original game concept but have written the code from scratch to deliver a completely new version that takes full advantage of the new platform on which it is released. One of the best examples is Final Fantasy VII.

Remasters, on the other hand, start with the original game as their base, and in this case, developers update the graphics and textures to make the game look much better. Typically, in today's releases, remasters are designed to support 4K resolution and offer more detailed visuals.

resident evil

If there's one franchise that stands out in the remake world, it's Resident Evil . We can go back to 2002 to find the first remake of the original Resident Evil , a version released on the Nintendo GameCube that delighted fans. But it wasn't until 2015 that Capcom struck gold with a new remaster that was a huge success and landed on PS4 and Xbox One.

Both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 received remakes with incredible results. The third, in particular, is the best of them all, returning us to an extraordinarily recreated Raccoon City to fight Nemesis. The result was sensational, and fans, as expected, once again clamored for more remakes. Capcom, of course, granted their wish.

Indeed, not content with their current success, Capcom has decided to continue remastering classics, and on March 24, 2023, we'll get the latest one, Resident Evil 4. Do you think it will be worth it?

Shadow of Colossus

Shadow of the colossus

Released on PlayStation 2 in 2005, its limitations in control and fair graphics did not prevent the game from becoming a symbol of what was then the Sony console. 12 years later, Sony announced the spectacular remake that would allow many to settle an outstanding debt with one of the best PlayStation games.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition

The Secret of Monkey Island

The true representative of point-and-click graphic adventures received a well-deserved remake, though perhaps it didn't achieve the expected success. The reason was likely the loss of one of the original game's core elements: the pixelated aesthetic with its truly ingenious designs was a major part of Monkey Island's success and magic. Even so, it's a version well worth considering and absolutely essential for those who haven't yet played the game.

Half-Life

Although not an official version created directly by Valve, Crowbar Collective's work could easily pass for a Valve release. Built on the Source engine, this incredible remake of the legendary Half-Life completely transforms everything we knew about Gordon Freeman's first adventure.
