These are all the Bioshock games, in case you missed any

Bioshock, the saga.

Bioshock es one of the most celebrated games of recent times, a name that millions of players still sigh for who keep the moment they met him fresh in their memory. That plane crash, the boat with the wooden box, the tower that protrudes from the ocean and, of course, that elevator to the bottom of the sea that a captivating civilization is going to reveal to us.

A key franchise of recent times

Those are the first minutes of an epic that changed many things in the world of videogames, since from that moment on, Some companies wanted to replicate the success of Bioshock exploring impossible worlds and universes, with dystopian societies or alternative dreams to reality. It is the case of Prey (the 2017 version) or the extraordinary Singularity of the always compliant Raven Software.

The fact is that Bioshock has a name associated with its success, at least from the first two installments, and that is Rapture, the underwater city where we are going to stop and which, built at the bottom of the ocean, attempted in the mid-XNUMXth century to house the perfect society designed by one Andrew Ryan. A provocative and mysterious enclave where only the best human beings on the planet could live. Its streets, catwalks and buildings were full of minds of an incomparable level that, unfortunately, will hide a small secret that will become the very end of this experiment.

Unfortunately, since 2013 we do not have new deliveries although everything indicates that ten years later, in 2023, we will enjoy a fourth part that remains to be seen where it will take place: if in the ocean of Rapture, in the clouds of Columbia or in a new setting where we experiment with some crazy idea of a megalomaniac with aspirations to rule the world.

Be that as it may, if you missed any of the games in the franchise these are all the editions that have been published to date, in case you want to revive old sensations with any of them:

Bioshock (2007)

Starting point of the series, with a protagonist (Jack) who suffers a plane crash in the middle of the ocean and, oh coincidence!, finds the gateway to a civilization unknown to most human beings: Rapture hides the secrets of the experiment of a certain Andrew Ryan that ended quite badly because of some improvements (the plasmids) that ended up corrupting each stratum of that privileged society. Although the game is an FPS, its plot load is present in every corner of the settings we go through, which helps to immerse us in an adventure like few have enjoyed in recent years. As if the dangers were few, the ruins of that civilization are plagued with dangers, including some robots known as Big Daddys that accompany some sinister girls (Little Sisters) who are collecting ADAM from the bodies of the dead.

Bioshock 2 (2010)

After the success of the first title, 2K Games could not repeat itself and trace the same development of the first in its continuation, so it saw a way to give the game another air. Eight years after the events that occurred in Bioshock And with our protagonist far from Rapture, the North Americans had no choice but to give the plot a twist to directly impact the way they play. From this need arises that the protagonist of this second part is not a normal human, but a Big Daddy, specifically a Delta model, which is more stylized than those seen in the first Bioshock and has a drill and everything, in addition to the capacity to walk on the bottom of the sea. In the plot background we have Sofia Lamb in charge of Rapture who will try to rescue her daughter, one of the Little Sisters extracted from the underwater city by the protagonist of the first game. Special attention to the Rumblers, some very, very dangerous Big Daddy which we will have to face on more than one occasion.

Bioshock Infinite (2013)

For the third installment, 2K Games completely changed gears since it forgot about the bottom of the sea, Rapture and the trouble between Big Daddys, Little Sisters and other marine fauna. So From the deepest, we move to the highest, to the floating city of Columbia, a place built by the US Government that it did not hide from anyone's eyes but soon began to cause problems and as a result a civil war began between different factions. In this title we play the role of Booker DeWitt, a former agent of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency who travels to the city to find Elizabeth, a woman who has been imprisoned in the clouds for 12 years and who is capable of distorting the layer of reality. Let's say the game forgot its origins but even so, it garnered very good reviews and The players liked it for its original approach.

Bioshock The Collection (2016)

With the new generation (PS4 and Xbox One) in stores since 2013, 2K Games decided to launch this pack with all the games to be able to enjoy those classics in more modern machines and hence this collection. In total, with this package we will take Bioshock, Bioshock 2 y Bioshock Infinite plus all its published DLC, including the famous marine pantheon from the last installment of 2013. Irrational Games thus allowed new gamers to continue enjoying an essential franchise.

Bioshock Remastered (2020)

In the absence of new Bioshock games that never came, 2K Games had the great idea of working on a remastering of the original title that, above all, focused its changes on the visual section. Thus, we have better and more detailed textures, more effects to apply to the models that appear on the screen and specific functions to adapt the perspective to how we want to feel the action. For example, a viewing angle control or compatibility with more panoramic 21: 9 formats. If you have a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S right now, you can play it without problems.

Bioshock 2 Remastered (2020)

This remastering is identical to that of Bioshock since 2K Games took the opportunity to add the same improvements, focused on the visual section, textures and effects, and filters that were not available to the development team when they worked with it a decade earlier. Also you can make it work on your current PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Bioshock Infinite The Complete Collection (2020)

This is not a new development, but the arrival on PS4 and Xbox One of all the content that came out for the 2013 game, that is, all its DLC and goodies extra that were not few: marine pantheon (Episodes 1 and 2) where we will explore the Rapture from just before its catastrophic fall; showdown in the clouds with very specific combat tests; Columbia's Best Lot, where we will start the adventure with the advantage of having 500 silver eagles, five lock picks, six items of equipment and two weapon upgrades in our pocket; and finally the call Special package for birds, an expansion of our arsenal with a damage upgrade for the machine gun and pistol, as well as golden versions of both models.
